Managing Your Online Reputation Pt. 3

While there are a relatively small number of major rating and review websites, they have large audiences and their reviews are syndicated to many other sites — making them extremely important for marketing. These websites play a large part in forming your online reputation.

What types of listing sites do you need to be on?

Utilizing every listing site to reach a broader audience has helped us reach niche businesses and maintain those relationships.

The other types of listing sites are search engines, review, directory and social sites. Each one tailors to a specific kind of customer experience and is vital to maintaining your online reputation. If you aren’t making an effort to be on these listing sites your reputation may be at stake.

Search Engines

A web search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as a search engine results page (SERPs). The information may be a mix of web pages, images, and other types of files.

With customers looking for services online more businesses need to adapt and place themselves right in front of their keyboard.

Review Websites

A review site is a website on which reviews can be posted about people, businesses, products, or services. These sites have given customers the power to review businesses and read other reviews of that business. This means that businesses can no longer rely on traditional marketing tactics, but now rely on the customer’s voice to drive their reputation online and offline.

Directory Websites

A web directory or link directory is an online list or catalog of websites. The difference between a web directory and a search engine is that directories typically list entries on people or business, and their contact information instead of providing a direct link to their websites.

Essentially, directories provide a direct point of contact to the person or business that is being listed. So, there aren’t any extra hoops to find that contact information.

Social Websites

A social site is an online platform which people use to build social networks or social relations with other people. Social sites can serve as an extended public relations and marketing arm for a business. It gives business the opportunity to interact directly with customers and retain online relationships with followers.
